Go For The GOLD! is Hiteon’s voluntary incentive program to encourage our students to read. ALL reading counts: homework, read to self, parents reading to a child, child to child, and any/all types of material. Students are responsible for keeping track of their reading time. Completed forms must be signed by a parent/guardian, and returned to the Reading Incentive basket located in each classroom.
This program allows the opportunity to reward students for taking time to read. Volunteers will record submitted reading hours in class binders on a monthly basis, and an incentive reward is given to each student turning in a minimum of 5 hours for that month. Awards are earned at increasing hourly levels, and on a continuing basis for the years a student attends Hiteon. The ultimate goal is to reach 1000 reading hours and the Gold Medal!
Award Levels begin with a Go For The Gold Lanyard after completing 10 hours, and continue in two categories:
Different Lanyard pin awarded after hours:
35, 75, 225, 300, 375, 450, 600, 675, 750, and 825
Medal awarded after hours:
150 (Bronze); 525 (Silver); and 1000 (Gold)
