5th Grade Parent Information Page
5th grade is a special year for our kids, full of fun activities! They have a Colonial Fair, attend BizTown and finish the year with a 5th Grade Party at Conestoga Rec Center! All of this happens because of awesome volunteers like YOU! Please take a few minutes to read below and consider where you can help.
5th Grade Party! – This will be on Monday June 18 at Conestoga Rec Center. The kids will walk from Hiteon to the Rec Center for 4 hours of fun and lunch. The details of the activities are TBD and depend on how much money is raised throughout the year.
Party Fundraising – We can’t have a party without fundraising! 5th grade is responsible for raising all the funds to pay for the party. We are estimating a goal of between $2,500 – $3,000 to cover the party. The primary opportunities are:
- Selling concessions at the Family Dance – Friday Nov. 17th
- Selling concessions at Movie Night – Jan. 19th
- Selling concessions at Bingo Night – Friday Feb. 23rd
- Bingo Night Gift Basket Raffle – Friday Feb. 23rd
**If you would like to be on the team to coordinate the fundraising please email Melynda Stitt firstname.lastname@example.org**
Each year the PTC provides funds for the 5th grade class to produce a yearbook. Each child will receive a yearbook for FREE at the end of the year party. In order to make this happen we need lots of help from parents to collect pictures of all those special memories from your child’s time at Hiteon.
Do you have great pictures from the last 5 years of school field trips or class activities? Maybe fun shots from Family Dance, Bingo Night, Science Fair, Fun Run or Field Day? We want to include them in the 5th Grade Yearbook! In addition, it has been tradition to include a baby picture for each student in a “guess who” format.
Please email all pictures to Hiteonyearbook2018@gmail.com. If possible please let us know which grade your child was in when the picture was taken so that we can sort things more easily on our end. The sooner we get your pictures the better!!
Also, we are currently researching how our book will be printed with our limited budget. If you have any print house connections, please contact 5th Grade Yearbook Coordinators Kristin Glover and Galina Voloshinov at the Hiteon Yearbook email.
Biz Town – Junior Achievement BizTown is a fun experience the kids attend in the spring. Teachers manage this activity and will coordinate the volunteers needed.
Colonial Fair -This is an all day event that takes place in the Spring at Hiteon. The students participate in several hands-on activities related to colonial times (i.e.- candle making, butter churning, etc.) It is a fun-filled day which takes lots of volunteers to make it a successful event. Parents will receive more information once a date has been selected for 2018.
As you can see it’s going to be a fun busy year. Please email me if you are interested in being part of the Parent Team to organize fundraising or party activities. You will be notified when volunteer slots are put on myvolunteer page for concessions selling.
Also, remember to help at any event including the 5th Grade Party you must have completed the Beaverton School District Background Check.
