A welcome message from your PTC Presidents…
Greetings fellow Hawks, we are excited to embark on another great school year at Hiteon Elementary! The Hiteon Parent Teacher Committee (PTC) is looking forward to providing programs and activities that will enrich the lives of our students, as well as collaborating with the amazing staff at Hiteon. Our PTC motto for the 2017–2018 school year is, “Together We Soar!” This motto is expressed by the dedication of our teachers, staff, parents, and volunteers!
We begin the year with a new PTC Board and we would like to personally introduce ourselves during the “Meet your Teacher” event scheduled for Friday, September 1, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. thru 10:30 a.m. The event will host an open house style forum where families can ask questions, explore volunteer opportunities, and enjoy coffee and donuts while interacting with other parents. Our students will have the opportunity to interact while exploring the new playground. For those unable to attend this event, the PTC will have tables set up outside the main school entrance during the first few days of school to welcome new and returning Hiteon families and answer any questions you may have.
The PTC is a collaborative effort and belongs to the parent(s)/guardian(s) of our students. Simply put, your child’s enrollment means you are a member of the Hiteon PTC, and participation is up to you. Each of us has different skills, talents, and resources needed to make Hiteon the best it can be. There are many volunteer opportunities available for the upcoming school year, so please don’t hesitate to sign up. A list of PTC supported programs/events and associated volunteer opportunities can be found at the Hiteon PTC website
Please note that all volunteers need to complete an Annual Background Check through the Beaverton School District. Detailed instructions on how to complete your background check can be found by clicking the BSD Volunteer Background Check link. The process can take up to 7 business days to complete so we strongly encourage all families to take a few minutes to start the approval process. We will have also PTC members available to help with this process during the “Meet your Teacher” event.
In closing, a quote by Helen Keller comes to mind as we reflect on the year ahead, “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
Thank you for your time and commitment to Hiteon Elementary, we look forward to serving you and your students.
